Australian couple have a small, affordable destination wedding in New York City

From the grocery store aisle,
to the wedding aisle

Buckle up, this one is really charming. These two met in kindergarten. YES – kindergarten. But that’s not where their love affair started… That didn’t get going until Mark found a job at the grocery store across the street from the bakery where Lauren worked. He, of course, developed a little crush on her and always found a reason to be at the bakery and strike up some good chat.

And still, that’s not where the love affair started! Over the years, Mark and Lauren were always crossing paths. They ended up studying at the same university and years later both moved to Melbourne, where they worked at the same hospital. When they visited their hometown in Port Fairy, Victoria, Australia, the two were always bumping into each other. In 2021, Lauren finally made the first move. They’ve been together ever since.

Lauren had never visited New York before her Cakewalk wedding at Ladies Pavilion in Central Park. Mark loves the city and knew Lauren would, too – it had always been a bucket list destination for her. They exchanged their vows, complete with a poetic riff on Wreckless Eric’s “Whole Wide World” on a beautiful fall evening, just after sunset.
