Kelly & Nic's Zuma Beach Micro Wedding
Kelly and Nic's Zuma Beach wedding started on a company kickball field in New York. Kelly invited Nic to join the team, and Thursday nights turned into something more. It didn't take long to find out they had the same taste in music, which meant a lot of concerts, a festival trip to Spain, and a standing rule to duck into every photobooth they pass.
Kelly could tell Nic was the one when she caught herself laughing a little too loud at his jokes and noticed they were still having fun even after they disagreed. Nic knew when he realized he'd started putting Kelly into every plan he made. Four years of Brooklyn softball, a pandemic spent biking, camping in Montauk, learning to surf and shaving their heads together, and one cross-country drive later, they were living in Los Angeles with a Doberman named Disco. Nic proposed on a hike. The wedding went to the coast: Zuma Beach in Malibu, with family who crossed the country to be there.
Sand, bluffs, and one very good ring bearer
The group came up from Santa Monica in the early evening and gathered on the sand at Zuma Beach. Kelly's dad walked her down a beach aisle. Her sister Samantha followed with the ring bearer: Disco. Vows, rings, and the marriage license signed right there on the beach.
After that, the guests headed to dinner at Zinqué Malibu while Kelly and Nic drove up to Point Dume for portraits on the bluffs above the cove as the light dropped toward the water. They arrived at the party in time to for their first dance and then celebrated with their loved ones.
Two people who learned to surf together got married with their feet in the sand.
