Time and place

Time and place – a whenever-we-have-time-and-some-fun-ideas series that digs into some alternative locations for NYC elopements. Category is: music.

New York City is a legendary music town. It birthed countless genres – jazz, hip-hop, punk, disco…not to mention the laundry list of iconic venues, artists, and movements that have shaped the global music landscape rooted here.

If you have main-character-energy and love listening to Simon and Garfunkel and staring longingly out the J train window while you go over the Williamsburg Bridge , we’ve got some elopement locations to consider.

Steeplechase Pier, Coney Island

Lana Del Rey, Taylor Swift, Ben Gibbard and just about everybody else has a moody track dedicated to Coney Island’s semi-surreal vibes. If you’re trying to be one of Lou Reed’s Coney Island Baby’s, there is no more iconic place to tie the knot than at the tippity top of Steeplechase Pier. After saying your I-dos, have a photoshoot along the Riegelmann Boardwalk, hitch a ride on the Thunderbolt, and host your crew for hot dogs and beers at a Brooklyn Cyclones game.

Under the Apollo Theater Marquee, Harlem

A beacon of the Harlem Renaissance and the host of literally countless legendary performances – The Apollo has been a space for Black Excellence since 1934. Picture this: a beautiful little green wedding at Marcus Garvey Park followed by a photoshoot under the Apollo Theater Marquee, then comfort food at Melba’s. It doesn’t get cooler.

Strawberry Fields, Central Park.

It’s the most moving space in Central Park. Dedicated to John Lennon with the beautiful “Imagine” mosaic, surrounded by trees and the most gorgeous afternoon light… To have your NYC microwedding here would be serene and meaningful. 🎶 Na na na nananana, nannana <3

Limited to One Records

Limited to One is owned and operated by two Lower East Side lovebirds, our friends Kristian Sorge and Nichole Porges. You can rent out Limited to One for a rad little micro-wedding for 20ish people. They’ll even change the display albums to all of your favorites! After your downtown photoshoot, you and your buds can head to Veselka for pierogies and borscht. Hell yea.

Rock-rock-Rockaway Beach

So many angles the Ramones thing could take in NYC. But a beach wedding at Rockaway Beach followed by burgers and beers at Rippers? Come on… Charge that bluetooth speaker, get a good pedicure, and embrace tousled beachy hair. It’s gonna be a rad Ramones inspired wedding.
