Ceremony at Gansevoort Peninsula
Michael and Michael (yes, two Michaels!) met online in 2015, and the conversations quickly started running all night into the next morning. Early dates included Fuerza Bruta and the rooftop at 230 Fifth.
Ten years, a lot of travel, and a long list of vegetarian restaurants later, they gathered a small group of family and friends on the lawn at Gansevoort Peninsula, right on the Hudson. Their goddaughter went first with the petals. Then their Aunt Shannon walked them both down the aisle together, between them. They read vows they wrote themselves, exchanged rings, and jumped the broom.
A note from Michael + Michael

“There truly aren’t enough words to express how grateful we are to the entire team at Cakewalk Elopements for helping make our wedding day so incredibly beautiful, seamless, and unforgettable.
From the very beginning of our planning process, Cakewalk made us feel like we were in the best possible hands. Planning a wedding comes with a lot of moving pieces, decisions, questions, and emotions, but Lia and her team handled everything with such professionalism, patience, kindness, and genuine care. They didn’t just coordinate our wedding — they made us feel taken care of every step of the way.
Our wedding day was absolutely magical, and every member of our Cakewalk team played such an important role in making it that way.”
From the Hudson to the Meatpacking district
After group photos on the lawn with both families, Michael and Michael walked back along the water with the Whitney and the Standard behind them. From there they headed into the Meatpacking District, and their photographer grabbed candids on the cobblestones as they made their way to Metro Cinema for a private viewing.
