Cakewalk Approved (Halloween edition)

Category is: little white dresses. WHO SAYS you can’t wear your wedding dress on Halloween. And no, I’m not gonna tell you to go as Marilyn Monroe or Juliet or any of the other lame-o played out characters we’ve seen a million times before.

It’s floor-length.

I’m predicting that Halloween 2024 will finally be the year for Girls costumes, so you should be ahead of the curve. Jessa’s floor length, sheer white dress with day-glow underwear and a modesty shawl worn to a babysitting job is probably the best idea I’ve ever come up with.

Love her dress. Hate her.

Step 1: Attempt to find rhinestone fringe heels. Step 2: Ask your mom if she still has your old cell phones. Step 3: Throw on a huge dress and an itty bitty mask. You are: Hillary Duff in A Cinderella Story

I feel like a piñata.

There is a moment in The L Word that stands out in people’s memory — when we see Shane McCutcheon wearing her girlfriend’s mother’s quinceañera dress. And while that is an iconic moment, the reason why you should remember this episode is not because Shane is wearing a dress–but because we are expected to believe that Shane, who was born in Texas and lives in Los Angeles, has never heard of a quinceañera before. It is some of the most unbelievable television writing in history. Regardless, if you have an early 2000s choppy pixie cut, a little white dress, dirty converse, and lots of eyeliner, you’re all set.

I’m not a girl who behaves.

If you are daring; if you are walking the line between high-brow and sexy; if you are annoying: throw on your bridal lingerie with a big white skirt and go as Anna Karina in Une Femme est Une Femme. Because *I* am annoying, this is obviously at the top of my list this year.

I wish there was a job where I could wear this all the time.

We all cut our hair like 90’s Jennifer Aniston. We all bought a Revlon blowout brush because we couldn’t afford the Dyson Airwrap. You’re going to be holding a beer anyways. So do it!!!

We think you should wear these costumes.
We think you should tag us @cakewalk.love if you do.
And we think you should always buy responsibly and sustainably.

Loulette Bride, Awoke Vintage, Frank Vintage, and Slope Vintage are some of our favorite spots to buy little white dresses.
