Cakewalk x Aurate Collection

We’ve been crushing on Aurate for a while now—like us, they’re a New York brand that was founded to make a complicated, expensive industry simple, accessible, and cool as hell.

For the past month we’ve been working with Aurate to put together a collection of our favorite pieces. Here’s what we chose and why:

Gold bands

There’s definitely a tightrope walk when it comes to solid metal wedding bands – you want something that can be worn everyday, but as one of the most important pieces of jewelry you own, it should still stand out on your hand. These pieces are the perfect balance of elevated and timeless.

Stones

Aurate has so many beautiful stones, ranging from perfectly minimalist to classically dramatic. One of my favorites on our list are their Tranquility Blue Topaz pieces – they’re refined and contemporary, but still give a bit of personality. I’m on a personal mission to shame small diamond shamers. Big diamonds can be gauche! Little ones are CHIC!!  I’m a proud defender of itty bitty diamonds – they look beautiful on their own or clustered around a big gemstone or as an embellishment to a gold piece. HOWEVER if you want a huge ring that your mom will brag about to her friends, we love their Brooklyn Baguette Diamond Ring – it’s definitely flashy but architectural and perfectly elegant.

Pearls

I love (still) them. Wearing a strand of pearls on your wedding day will never go out of style– it makes me think of Anne Boelyn and Princess Diana and Vermeer paintings. For those who (wrongly) associate pearls with country clubs and Lily Pulitzer – the organic pearls are dramatic and sculptural, and would work perfectly for an avant garde, minimalist, Tabi wearing couple.

Toi et Moi

Between Ariana Grande, Emily Ratajkowski and Megan Fox – Toi et Moi rings have been getting a lot of attention recently. The style has a long history – Josephine de Beauharnais was gifted one by Napoleon Bonaparte as early as 1796, and JFK proposed to Jackie Kennedy with an emerald and diamond Toi et Moi. They’re personal, romantic, and I LOVE COLOR. So, obviously, I added nearly all of their Toi et Moi pieces to our list.

We love Aurate, Aurate loves us, and Aurate loves Cakewalk.
